The CITB Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) Refresher course ensures candidates who have previously completed the 5-day CITB SMSTS course keep their health & safety knowledge up-to-date to ensure they are working safely & in line with current legislation.

By completing the SMSTS Refresher course before your current certificate expires, you will only be spending 2 days off-site rather than having to spend five days retaking the full course.

Who is this course suitable for?

This course is suitable for anyone who holds a current SMSTS certificate and needs to complete a refresher before their current certificate expires.

Are there any entry requirements?

The SMSTS Refresher course is only for candidates who have previously completed the 5-day CITB SMSTS course. You will need to provide proof of passing the course and hold an in-date certificate.

There is no grace period with this course, so once your current certificate expires, you can no longer complete the refresher course and would need to complete the full 5-day course again.

What does CITB SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) Refresher include?

This course refreshes knowledge of topics covered in candidates' previous CITB SMSTS courses whilst also introducing new topics. Content covered includes:

Various Health & Safety legislation
Health & Safety and your role as a manager
Risk Assessments & Risk Management
Construction hazards
Occupational health

What are the learning outcomes for this course?

This course will refresh your knowledge of Health & Safety and your responsibilities as a site manager and update you on any changes in legislation which may impact your role.

How is this course assessed?

Participants will be assessed on their involvement throughout the training and the four core exercises of the course. The assessment will also include a presentation and 25 questions exam.

Open courses are available on specific dates throughout the year. This course is ideal if you have one or two members of staff who require a specific course.

Virtual Course - Via training partners
This course is available via Zoom for those who cannot make it to a physical classroom but still benefit from joint learning and is delivered by a trusted training partner.

Closed Courses

A closed course is available for your team only. If you have multiple team members who require training, this is logistically easier and cost-effective for upskilling your team.

On Site
This course is delivered by a trainer on-site. If you don’t have a room suitable on your site for training, you may hire a local venue where we can deliver this training to your team members.
Stallard Kane Training Room, Gainsborough
This course is available in our training room in Gainsborough and is suitable for businesses that do not have training facilities.
Virtual Course
This course can be delivered exclusively to your team virtually via zoom.
